A Step toward Water Use Sustainability: Implementing a Business Model Canvas for Irrigation Advisory Services

Some major future global challenges are linked to more efficient use of water for irrigation respond the growing scarcity coupled with increasing food demand. Although advisory services (IASs) considered effective instruments increase efficiency in agriculture, their diffusion remains limited. This is due several constraints mainly low accessibility and high costs. To overcome bottlenecks associated IASs’ adoption, this paper proposes a business model (BM) as tool scaling up IASs within perspective, aim encouraging technology while enhancing environmental social benefits. Drawn from experience OPERA project, we structured taking advantage opinion relevant stakeholders potential users identify specific limitations understand needs. It turned out that farmers willing adopt but require service easily accessible, high-quality information delivered at an affordable cost. Indeed, here BM innovative way produce deliver value proposed. The proposition built upon key features namely, integration, customization, accessibility, sustainability reflect users’ needs preferences. Our also provides detailed revenues strategy guarantees financial IASs. design represent our BM, “Business Model Canvas ©” has been adopted. We concluded well-structured leave profitable capable ensure sustainability.
